Podniz (robes, refed) - thread, fringe or mesh, decorated with beads and pearls on an old Russian woman's headdress. On holidays it is decorated with precious stones and weave in her golden threads. She played the role fields headdress and covered hairline and temples. For higher volumes and giving a wavy shape in podniz often plaited horsehair. She was especially prevalent in the XVIII century in Tver, Nizhny Novgorod, Yaroslavl and Kostroma provinces.
