Hryvnia

 Hryvnia - old neck decoration in the form of a hoop of gold, silver or copper. Hryvnia made of thick wire, often there are models of several wires stranded wiring. These ornaments are rarely buttoned, fastened them on the neck, using the natural flexibility of the metal. The ends of this necklace is sometimes spirals or decorate the heads of animals or fantastic creatures. In X-XI centuries in Russia, the hryvnia was predominantly men's jewelry, and even used as a reward for military valor. Later, it began to wear women, and it has been preserved as part of the female Russian costume to the XVI century.
