 The word "coat" comes to us from the Persian language. It refers to men's clothing, mostly peasants. There are other word forms: koftan and kavtan. Varieties of male dress a few, but common to all species is the following: double-breasted cut, long sleeves and floors, closed top to the chest. In Russia, mainly coats had blue or gray, and sewed them from linen or cotton fabric artisanal manufacture, in other words - gingham. Kaftans, usually girdled sashes and buttoned hooks on the left side - butt. Later this kind of top men's clothing began to sew velvet, satin, taffeta, cloth, Kamchatka and other tissues. Shortened caftans called polukaftanyami or polukaftanami, and in Ukraine - scrolls.
