Most people eat on a low-calorie Western diet, eating foods that have passed and the handling of which was removed many trace elements, says Dr. McGill.

"We used to get a lot of nutrients by feeding the old diet containing plenty of fruits and vegetables, fiber and protein, but now we do not get this, eating in a new," she says.
On top of this, it turns out that human metabolism "disconnected" processes to ensure that many vitamins remained as conservation of energy for the complex functioning of the brain.
Scientists say that all together too processed foods, lack of energy and nutrients causing malnutrition state.
Under stress from lack of nutrients the body adjusts to the hard times and adapts, through the creation of fat reserves.

People who struggle with being overweight are always under the temptation to buy vitamins or herbal medicines that can help get rid of extra pounds.
But Dr. McGill said that these concentrates have not been sufficiently tested and are completely ineffective in the body at deficiency of nutrients.
"Many non-prescription medicines such as herbal remedies, nutritional supplements, vitamins and minerals are available in order to reduce weight, but they do not cover the lack of nutrients when a poor diet that leads to obesity."

Many of the substances - namely, garlic, amino acids, vitamins, fiber and minerals contained in medicines, OTC, will be much more effective for weight loss if they are combined in foods in their natural form, said Dr. McGill.
