Dmitri Hvorostovsky was born in Krasnoyarsk in 1962. His father owned a large collection of records opera stars, perfectly played the piano and sang. Seeing such a love for the arts, the young singer unwittingly inherited it and retained throughout life. Since childhood, he sang arias, songs and old Russian romances.
After school Dmitry entered the Krasnoyarsk Pedagogical College named after AM Gorky, and then graduated from the Krasnoyarsk Institute of Arts. In 1985 he became a soloist Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, where he worked for 5 years. In 1989, Dmitry won the televised contest BBC «Singer of the World" in the UK, then his name became known around the world.
After winning Hvorostovsky debuted in New York in the production of "The Queen of Spades" by Tchaikovsky. This debut helped him to sign a contract with the record company «Philips Classics». This company has released 20 albums with singer solo programs, as well as arias from operas. In 1992, one of the albums Hvorostovsky "Black Eyes", which included Russian folk songs and ballads, was recognized as one of the most popular in the US and Europe.
His repertoire includes - Eugene Onegin, Rigoletto, Don Giovanni and many other equally notable roles. In November 1999, Hvorostovsky starred in opera for "Don Giovanni", playing two roles: Don Giovanni and Leporello.
In 2005 in Moscow was a success Hvorostovsky concert dedicated to the anniversary of the Great Victory, and then followed by extensive touring singer in Russia with a program devoted to the songs of the Great Patriotic War. In the same year he won the award Dmitry "Compatriot of the Year - 2005".
Today, Dmitri Hvorostovsky is writing new songs and ballads, in collaboration with the American record company "Delos". Already saw the light wheels Hvorostovsky include arias from different operas, as well as Russian romances.
